This workshop will provide you with a series of in-class writing exercises so that you can learn to feel how structure functions in your work and recognize it on the page. You will develop skills for pacing your work through the creation of builds, stichomythic exchanges and other dynamics to serve your stories. Because we all need structures to hold the risks we want to take. 

After ten weeks of generative exercises you will have a much better understanding of how structure works, how you can use it to build your plays, and the freedom to play and invent new structures to subvert expectations and surprise your audiences. 

Yes, you can bring your work-in-progress and work with characters you are already working with. Yes, you can come in without a work-in-progress and create new characters from scratch! 

Expect to write in class. Expect to share writing in class. Be able to give and receive feedback (we will discuss how). And bring with you a sense of adventure and a desire for open exploration.
